Get up and go! Five quick, easy and healthy breakfast ideas.

We aren't all morning people. For those of us who struggle to get out of bed in the morning, the idea of getting a healthy meal on the table before we head out the door to start our day is overwhelming.

Therefore, we thought we'd pull together five great recipe options which take less than ten minutes, are high in protein and healthy fats, and will keep your brain powered for the first half of the day.

Starting the day off on the right foot just got a bit easier!

1. Good Ol' Eggs and Bacon.

Yep, eggs, bacon and some healthy sides like mushrooms and spinach are a great way to fuel up and take less than ten minutes to cook. Plus, you can do it all in one pan, making the morning dishes a little easier.

Pull together a couple of eggs, a rasher or two of high quality free range bacon, and a handful of chopped mushrooms and baby spinach for a quick and healthy start to your day.

2. Yummy Scrummy Omelette!

Eggs (a superfood, if we do say so ourselves!) features again in this great breakfast option - a no frills, quick and easy omelette.

Whisk two eggs with a bit of milk or cream and season with salt and pepper. Chuck it in a pan and dot with your favourite additions like spinach, mushrooms, capsicum, bacon or tomato. Once cooked through, garnish with a bit of parmesan cheese or nuts for extra healthy fats and a bit of crunch!

3. Avocado is king!

The results are in - avocado is great for you! They are full of healthy fats, have more than 20 vitamins and minerals, and they're low on fructose making them a perfect keto food option.

Add some avocado to the side of some scrambled eggs, chop it up and make a breakfast salad with pan fried kale, zucchini and spinach, or add it to a green smoothie - avocado, spinach, coconut milk/almond milk, ice and a few dates for sweetness.

4. Run-out-the-door savoury muffins.

Kids still not dressed for school? About to miss the bus to work? Can't be bothered with cooking every morning? We hear ya. Whip up some quick savoury muffins on a Sunday so you've got breakfast sorted all week.

  • Whisk 8-10 eggs, add a third of a cup of cream, and season with salt and pepper. Add in a teaspoon or two of garlic powder too for some added flavour.

  • Chop up some bacon into small pieces, as well as some tomato, mushrooms and spinach. Go crazy and add whatever you like - capsicum? Great. A bit of chilli? Why not.

  • Grease a 12 muffin tray, and add some of the chopped veg and bacon to each muffin hole.

  • Pour in the egg mixture - fill each muffin hole 2/3 of the way, otherwise they'll overflow!

  • Put the tray into a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees, and cool for between 15-20 minutes.

These will keep for five to six days in an airtight container in the fridge, ready to zap in the microwave for 30 seconds before running out the door!

5. Green and gorgeous breakfast salad.

For this recipe, you can pre-cut all the required veggies on the Sunday so all you need to do is chuck them in the pan each morning.

Cut up a bunch of asparagus, break down some broccoli into small florets, tear up some kale leaves, and chop some zucchini. Chuck in a handful or two of this green goodie mix into a pan and fry in a small amount of olive oil for approximately 10 minutes, and season with salt, pepper and garlic salt. Add some chilli flakes for an added hit.

Top with a fried egg and enjoy a big bowl of goodness!
